Tuesday at the Hollywood Bowl

We headed over to the Hollywood Bowl this morning to check out the rehearsal of Verdi's Requiem as conducted by Gustavo Dudhamel.  Apparently, you can listen to the LA Philharmonic rehearse for their Hollywood Bowl performances for free.  The boys were ever so excited to go to the Hollywood Bowl and see the conductor with the crazy hair.  Sadly, rehearsal was cancelled today, so they wouldn't get to hear any music, but, we  found something quite fun to do.

The Hollywood Bowl has a children's program called Summer Sounds.  Typically, there's some sort of ethnic musical program for children.  Today, we had the great fortune to listen to Los Pinguos from Argentina.  They spoke about their love of Argentina and even taught the kids about the corazon in music.  Nicholas got into it somewhat and was grooving a bit.  John was a bit more reserved, but he said that he wanted to stay until the end of the show which we did.

The other cool thing about visiting the Hollywood Bowl during the day is that you can go in and see the venue.  John and Nicholas enjoyed sitting in their own private box, but they didn't quite make it up to the stage.  So, I'd say it was a pretty cool experience.  Aside from that, parking was free.  Who could ask for anything more?
